Sundays Bridal expo was Crazzy!

Whew! Sunday was a busy day at the Rosewood Banquet hall. We had our fifth? Bridal expo, and this one was the best turn out I’ve seen so far. Since spring is around the corner, (yay!) we were going for pastel, springy colors. Pinks, yellows, white and a little lavender. I love that our booth has been one of the first ones people see when they walk in. The atmosphere was elegant (very posh) and the service was amazing! There was champagne! But along with all the décor came the competition. Three tables down there were big gaudy floral bouquets with the typical rose bunches (okkkk...) and orchid bouquets. Oh well, can't always be the only florist available. The afternoon ended with me giving a horrifying 10 min speech on a stage about bouquets! AHHHH. So scary. I lived, I lived...these were some of the bouquets displayed, I'll download the rest to show you guys! - Danielle

We are getting an office!!!!

A few sketches from our new proposed office!!!!
We get a 9 X 14 foot space all to ourselves. In the words of my friend Marci- "for serious". Yeah, these are pretty rough but hello! How awesome!

Updates from Danielle's show later, after she recovers from having to get up in front of 200 people to talk about "making bouquets" while a guy holds a mic to her mouth.

For Serious.

Trash The Dress-Part Deux

A while ago when we talked about Sara Anna Photography and their amaaaaazing pics of a trash the dress session with flowers by Oh My!. Seriously, they are such awesome photographers and if getting married in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, we just have to recommend them- they are the best! Here are a few more pics from the shoot; the pooch and I picked all of the greens from our woods that morning and tied it in a turquoise satin ribbon. Sigh....wish we could have one of these days, everyday.

They're coming!!!!

They're COOMMMIINNG!!! My fave: helleborus!
And the closest second fave: ranunculus. Ahhhh, dreamy.

Here are anemones that looked super parched when I got them; and then after they had a drink. I think as a florist, you always process orders while holding your breath. You never know when the 500 roses you absolutely need are going to fall apart or not open at all. Oy, it's pretty scary. One day, when I don't tear up while talking about it, I'll tell you about the first wedding we did and the death of 700 FREEDOM ROSES.

But whatev- you get over it and if you have a great teacher, like we do, you learn some awesome things.

But it is now 5:01 p.m. Martini Time!

SERIOUSLY.

Can everyone STOP having babies right now?!
For a little while at least?!
The cute preggo lady with photo updates on facebook EVERYDAY, the belly shots, the excuse to eat ice cream all day long and the adorable chubby baby you get after nine months of people oohing and ahhing over baby joggers and wrap scarf thingys- come on!

Seriously.*

Or until I have one.

Whatever!

Flowers:

*just a rant for today; I'm not really mad. I'm stoked for every one's little babies to come, I guess I'm just bummed that I don't get to dress a mini person. My animals refuse to wear more than a sweater.

You better get used to this wall.

I had a bucket of extras from the White Wedding* samples and since Ragu jars are overflowing from my cabinets, here are a few little guys.

Other than that, I think I am the only American NOT watching the Super Bowl and instead hanging out with dad, uploading pics, making crepes and watching Criminal Minds (my FAVE). Gotta love Sundays!

*curling my lip as I sing this

I need a better camera

because these would be AWESOME.

I really live 5 miles from here?

Three and a half years ago, I entered "tissue paper gown" into ebay and came up with about a dozen hospital dressings, a few paper dolls and a dress. A beautiful, thin, dreamy piece that for some reason unknown to the universe, was my size.

OF COURSE I bought it (because it was 80 bucks). And OF COURSE it was perfect (because everything is perfect when you're in love). And OF COURSE my mom hated it.

So being the obedient daughter I am, I schlepped to my neighborhood bridal chain YUCK! and bought the first dress the mum said was "gawww-geous". Sighhhhh.....

Lucky for me, I've become friendly with a super photog couple, Sarah and Kevin of Sarah Anna Photography and their little creative hearts told them to invite me to do a "Trash the Dress" session. I think if I had worn the dress I reeeeeally wanted for my wedding, I would've refused to use it but I'll be damned! I had that thing hanging in my closet for over a thousand days. It needed to be photographed.

Sooo- here we are, running around with no coats on, smiling at the silliness of walking down a street in a wedding dress, looking like a bride gone awry and asking cops not to ticket our cars after leaving them abandoned at a railroad.

more pics layta', as Sarah goes through them
